6. Place the saturated layers of mat over the joint and be sure to center them over the seam. Use roller to smooth mat and squeeze out air bubbles. Allow weld to harden.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for each layer of weld over 1/4" thick.

Repair of FRP.

8. After the weld has hardened, should there be any rough areas they can be sanded.

Sand The Surface

9. To be sure of proper corrosion resistance, it is necessary to apply Gel Coat (Formula C) to the welded area.

Paint

10. Repairs of tanks and areas around fittings call for similar techniques. Accidental small fractures and leaks can be repaired by you. However, large areas of damaged to tanks sometimes required exterior structural reinforcement and the services of a Bittner field crew.

The procedures are the same as those for welding pipe. Prepare surface, catalyze the resin, apply mat and finish with gel coat.

When patching, cut each succeeding piece of mat larger than the one preceding it. The patch should be equal or exceed the wall thickness of the object being repaired.

If you have any questions regarding welding or simple patching, call Bittner Industries. We will be glad to assist you with your particular problem.
